Studio interior at golden hour

The Studio

Built for the work.
Designed for the hands.

A purpose-built ceramic laboratory in West Perth, Western Australia.

We started Core in 2007 with one principle. Every restoration that leaves this studio should look like it was made by a person, because it was.

In 2019 we moved into a purpose-built space on Colin Street. Blue cabinetry, linear black pendant lights, full-height windows facing north. The architecture matters. Even illumination changes the way a ceramicist reads colour. Generous bench space changes the way a hand moves.

We use digital where digital improves the work, and we use the hand everywhere else. CAD designs a substructure. A ceramicist layers the surface. The two are not in competition. They are different tools for different parts of the same problem.
